The book is enlivened by her personal accounts of interviews with Cioran and research trips back to her homeland. All are color coded for different areas of study. I place " " around medication also, as I scoff at it, OPENLY so, too! As it is, alien, to our system, and that is how come they give side effects and this must be noted on the label and so on. I had never read this book by Herman Hesse before. Period.

If I had to list one difference between her philosophy and mine regarding treatment, it is in our willingness to place low-risk, low-cost, but potentially high-value bets on therapies that might not yet have enough double-blind scientific research for her to recommend, even for those whose ideologies may be built on well-established science.
