This newest installment unites two texts by celebrated Canadian poet Anne Carson. The first, Variations on the Right to Remain Silent,” is an essay on the stakes involved when translation happens and covers works ranging from Homer through Joan of Arc to Paul Celan. It also includes the author’s seven translations of a poetic fragment from the Greek poet Ibykos. The second, By Chance the Cycladic People,” is a poem about Cycladic culture in which the order of the lines has been determined by a random number generator. It arrived in a timely manner and was exactly what I was expecting!. Some of the stories were so abstract they were hard to understand, but if you are someone who likes to read between the lines to find deeper meaning you would probably really enjoy it.
A couple of the stories that really spoke to me I will highlight here for you. There is diferation between progressive liberal and liberitarian. One for the collection!. This book looks great if you're wanting Celtic "songs" to sing. As I said above, Burton writes well, but he makes a few grammatical mistakes that any careful editor could have caught and corrected without any trouble. I wish I had known about Pennak when the older edition covering the insects as well was available. The basis principle of typography is covered and the basis principles of breaking those rules are mention.
