Again available in paperback, this definitive work on the genius of Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) is the result of twelve years of devoted effort by America's foremost harpsichordist and one of the principal authorities on eighteenth-century harpsichord music. Mr. Kirkpatrick traveled extensively to collect material that has tripled the known facts about Scarlatti's life, providing the first adequate biography of one of the greatest harpsichord composers of the eighteenth century and one of the most original composers of all time. The second half of his book is an illuminating study of Scarlatti's 555 sonatas, concluding with a chapter on their performance. The book contains extensive appendixes, including discussions of ornamentation and Scarlatti's vocal music, and an updated section of addenda and corrigenda.

Editorial : "Not only the best examination of the subject which has appeared up to the present time, it is the only one commensurate with Scarlatti's true artistic stature, and the significance of his music to his time and ours."--The New York Times

She likes her way of life now and has absolutely no plans to ever allow herself to be forced to have a security team ever again. The political and religious views of the author are clear pretty early on and if you can get past that this book is a must read for various reasons, but I going to go with read it just because I said so.. However, if you A) live in a tropical environment B) handle this book at all, the binding falls apart. A great companion to Opening the Energy Gates of Your Body: Chi Gung for Lifelong Health (Tao of Energy Enhancement).. At best there might be a quick mention if the written text glossing over the information.

I usually like to think I can find something redeeming in any (technical) book but not in this one. The software supplied on disk is little more than a calculating spreadsheet and not much real use.. The Bordurians' habit of constantly reproducing their laughable leader Kurvi-Tasch's whiskers, even in their alphabet, was another Soviet touch
