I might recommend Ray Miller's 'Volkswagen Bug: The People's Car,' or Terry Shuler's 'Volkswagen, Then, Now, and Forever.' Mr Miller's book is full of photos depicting model year changes and factual information. Cioran, focused on his early years in Romania. It definitely held a lot of info on DIY repairs. Martin Windrow's WARRIORS, FIGHTING MEN AND THEIR UNIFORMS is a quick, once-over guide to warrior garb from 1288 BC to the present. There are topics that for someone familiar with real-time rendering will be old hat (like geometry culling), but the authors do not assume you know it. It came in handy for oil and spark plug changes. This is an excellent intellectual biography of E.M. Spoiler alert: The artwork is lifted from various Osprey ELITE and MAA volumes.
Given its wealth of nicely-rendered illustrations and easy-on-the-pocketbook price of $14.95, WARRIORS would make a good stocking stuffer for military buffs. My two cent's
