Born and raised in Yugoslavia, she completed her medical studies at the University of Belgrade. Upon her immigration to Canada in 1971, she specialized in psychiatry at the University of Toronto. As a physician and a fervent admirer of Gould's music, Dr. Mesaros was distressed by his untimely death in 1982. She became interested in why this gifted musician died so early in a city filled with excellent medical services. Her interest gradually grew into extensive biographical research into the life and death of Glenn Gould. Dr. Mesaros was interviewed on a CBC television documentary on the topic of Glenn Gould in 1998. Mesaros presently resides in Toronto and enjoys music, poetry, and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
