From ancient times to the present day, the world's finest warriors have been defined by the kit they use and the uniforms they wear. This splendid collection of artwork illustrates the most famous combatants from all the ages of military history, using stunning colour and detail to bring the men and their kits to life and describing when, where and how they wore them. From the gleaming plate armour of the Roman Legionaries to the sleek gear of modern special ops forces, from the vivid, magnificent attire of Plains Indian warriors to the special aquatic equipment of the US Navy SEALs - this is the premiere guide to the appearance of history's 100 Greatest Warriors!

The last entry covers Russian Spetsnaz troops circa 2008-2014. The first entry describes/illustrates a War chariot of Ramses II circa 1288 BC. A 2015 Osprey Publishing release, it will serve as an enjoyable, colorful primer on the subject for military fans of all ages.

Windrow's book spotlights 100 examples of garb divided into 'The Ancient World,' 'The Medieval World,' 'Early Modern Warfare,' 'Imperial Wars,' '19th Century Wars,' etc. Osprey does it again! They have produced a very nice pocket compendium of military uniforms from all over the ages and continents that is great! Some of the pictures do come from other Osprey series but many are not and are of great quality. Each entry gets a two-page write-up with an accompanying color artwork by Angus McBride, John Pohl, Michael Johnson and other artists. Great pricing and a great book, glad I have a copy. Recommended.. Other entries include 5th Century Frankish warriors, 14th Century Welsh and English archers, Napoleonic Wa
